Orchid Collective

Orchid Collective being together for just over a year have been gigging relentlessly throughout Ireland and have worked tirelessly creating a fresh and exciting live show for their growing audience. Mixing a combination of vocal harmonies and ambient soundscapes, akin to the likes of their inspirations Villagers, James Vincent McMorrow and Bon Iver.

Touring around Ireland has seen Orchid Collective gather a loyal fan base. Festival appearances at Spirit of Folk, Glasgowbury and Knockanstockan aswell as supporting Boston based Mutual Benefit on the Irish leg of their European tour. Releasing debut single ‘Figure It Out’ last year along with starting 2016 as Whelan’s Ones to Watch. Their second single Lay As Stone released this March has been receiving rave reviews and getting national radio exposure. The band officially released Lay As Stone to a sold out Whelan’s in Dublin, marking Orchid Collective as an act with serious potential!

‘’For a band that have only been together for just over a year, Orchid Collective look remarkably comfortable playing in front of a packed-to-capacity room upstairs in Whelan’s. You can tell straight away that it will be an easy hop to the main venue downstairs; what’s more, I can imagine Orchid Collective claiming a place on festival main stages for years to come. That’s how important they can become!’’- Hotpress (Review of Lay As Stone Sold Out Single Launch show)

‘’ This is a band with a stage presence well beyond the current status of ‘single launch’ stage. Yes it was my first time to see them live, but it’s that kind of sound audiences are loving right now and who are also happily paying extortionate prices to see bands of a similar genre in a live setting.’’- Dublin Concerts

‘’It’s brilliant’’- Stephen McAuley on Lay As Stone (BBC)

‘’It’s a beauty...gorgeous, gorgeous track...really really stunning stuff...I don’t want to say big things are expected of them as it’s their first single but it certainly shows a lot of promise, doesn’t it’’- Dan Hegarty on Lay as Stone (RTE 2FM)

‘’They make something very difficult sound very easy’’- Jim Lockhart (Senior producer RTE/ Horslips)

‘’Sounds like a band at the start of something...a good start’’ - Dave Fanning (RTE 2FM)

‘’WOW this is excellent!’’- Roddie Cleere on Lay As Stone (Voted 2nd best DJ(after Dave Fanning) by Hotpress readers)

‘’a rousing independent folk-pop sound with harmony to the fore...it suggests a band of greater promise.’’- Nialler9

‘’a similarly rousing effort to previous singles including ‘Figure It Out’.’’- The Thin Air

‘’Melding indie- pop hooks, alternative- folk tinged vocal harmonies and post- rock inflected grandeur, the sound of ‘Lay As Stone’ bodes very well for the groups future.’’- The Last Mixed Tape

‘’ It’s always a pleasure to find a gem of new Irish music in the State inbox.’’- State.ie
